About debt collection in Bulgaria

This service is for people who are owed money. It might be a business whose customer has not paid for goods or services, or a person who lent money that was never paid back.

Often a formal letter from a lawyer asking for payment is enough. If not, there are other ways to press for the money, in many countries.

What the service aims to do

  • Get unpaid money back faster.
  • Recover as much as possible and, where it can be done, keep a good working relationship with the customer.
  • Use either steps outside court or a court case.
  • Keep the case private and keep you updated.

How it works

Talking with the person who owes you. With your permission, a lawyer negotiates for you. The goal is to get the full amount, but you may decide that part of it, or the full amount paid over time, is acceptable.

Checking their finances first. Going to court is a last step. Before that, it is worth finding out whether the person or company has money or property. Useful sources include the company register, which shows details such as company assets and yearly accounts, and the property register, which shows what people own. Getting such a report before going to court is strongly advised.

Going to court. If the other steps fail and the report suggests it is worthwhile, the case can be taken to court.

What clients say about our service

  • My wife and I contacted this service because we needed legal representation in Spain for an ongoing family dispute. The lawyer phoned us and arranged a conversation to talk things over. We had spoken to several lawyers, and he was the only one confident enough to take on what had become an extremely complex situation. Over the next 12 months he helped us work through its complexities. He dealt directly with the other party by mail and by phone, and he came to meetings with us in Fuengirola to review progress. It all ended with a meeting with the other party, where he signed and witnessed the agreement that had been reached, settling the dispute to everyone's satisfaction. Considering the time and effort he put in over those 12 months, we found his fees extremely fair and very reasonable, and it was a pleasant surprise. He was extremely professional throughout and answered our emails and WhatsApp messages diligently and on time. We would wholeheartedly recommend him to others.
