What we do
Information first, then the right professional
Legal information in plain English
Every service, area of law and country on this site has its own explanation — what the matter involves, how it usually runs locally, the local terms you will meet. Written for people with no legal background.
A network of registered lawyers
Advocates, attorneys and legal professionals who are members of their country's bar and work in English — with their experience, languages and client ratings shown openly.
A direct connection to the right professional
You describe your matter once. We pass it to a lawyer who handles exactly that kind of case, in the right country and, where it matters, near the right city.
Help across borders
Most of our clients live in one country and have a matter in another: a home abroad, an inheritance, a residence permit, a dispute. That is precisely the situation we are built for.
How it works
How we connect you with a lawyer
-
01
Tell us what you need
Write or dictate your matter in the chat, in your own language. Our assistant asks only what a lawyer needs to know — who you are, how to reach you, where the matter is and what it is about — and shows you a summary before anything is sent.
-
02
We review the enquiry
A case manager reads every enquiry and matches it with a registered lawyer who handles that kind of matter in that place. If something is unclear, we ask before passing it on.
-
03
The lawyer contacts you directly
The lawyer replies by e-mail or telephone, in English, explains the next steps and, where work is needed, sets out the terms in writing before anything starts.
-
04
You decide
There is no obligation to go ahead. You speak to the professional, ask your questions and choose whether to instruct them.
Our standards
How we choose the professionals we work with
We are not an open directory where anyone can list a profile. We work with every lawyer individually, and we only connect you with professionals who meet these standards.
-
Registered with their bar
Every lawyer listed is a member of a bar association or law society of their country.
-
Experience on the record
Case counts, years in practice and the services each lawyer handles are shown on their card.
-
Rated by real clients
Ratings and testimonials come from clients after their cases; we publish first names only.
-
Fluent in English
Each professional works with international clients and speaks English alongside the local language.
Our texts
How our legal information is prepared
Every page explains a matter as it works in a particular country: the steps, the institutions involved, the documents and the local terms. We write from official sources and the practice of the lawyers we work with, and we avoid figures that change every year — fees, tax rates and deadlines are for your lawyer to confirm for your case.
Pages show when their text was last updated. The legal texts are reviewed by a practising lawyer, and we correct anything that changes in the law or in local practice.
The information on this site is general and is not legal advice. Advice on your own situation comes from the lawyer you speak to.

The lawyer was so amazingly helpful, assisting me remotely while I was in Haiti and in person when I visited Spain. She has a fantastic personal manner and is super approachable, her English is flawless, and I would 100% use her again for future legal advice in Spain.

The professionalism far exceeded what I have been used to with similar practices in other European countries. The lawyer was very caring and sensitive in assisting with a very emotional family bereavement in the Algarve.

She replied extremely fast to my first inquiry, quickly arranged a meeting to go over the details, and answered all my questions. Reaching her by phone or text was easy, she was punctual, and she was fun and personable to talk to as well, with perfect English. After I had struggled for months to get this done on my own, she sorted everything out for me in record time. Anyone trying to navigate Greek bureaucracy should hire her, and I would recommend her.

He replied incredibly fast and soon found the answers I needed, so I started to feel less stressed. He went out of his way to make certain I understood the procedure and the legal terms, and the assistance could not have been better.

He was very professional and gave me good advice and information about my situation and what can be done about it, and his English was perfect, so there was no trouble understanding. I truly appreciated the advice not only on the legal level but on a human level too.

What we are — and what we are not
We are a legal information and introduction service. We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice ourselves: advice, representation and fees are a matter between you and the lawyer you choose, who is bound by the rules of their bar. Our part is to explain, to find the right professional and to make the first contact simple.
Tell us about your matter
Describe it in the chat — what it is about, where, and how to reach you — and a lawyer who handles this kind of case replies, with no obligation.
We are not just a place to list a profile: we work with every lawyer individually. Each one is registered with a bar association, and their experience, languages and client reviews are shown openly on their card.
Enquiries are answered by lawyers of AdvocateAbroad. This site provides legal information, not legal advice.
